Dr. Richard Cunningham is a board certified physician whose undergraduate training began at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Following his medical training at The Medical School of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency as well as The Miami Sports Medicine Fellowship in Miami, Florida. The recipient of numerous academic honors and awards, Dr. Cunningham holds professional memberships in the Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. After many years as team physician for a variety of high school, college, and professional teams, including the Miami Heat National Basketball Association team, Dr. Cunningham currently serves as team physician for Christian Academy of Knoxville.
