It’ll Be Alright – Positive and humble are just two ways people describe Shirley Young. But mostly, they call her a great friend. Shirley has worked for Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics for over 40 years. In that time, she has touched so many lives. If you’ve had any type of surgery at TOC, chances are you’ve spoken to Shirley. She works behind the scenes ensuring our patients have proper pre-authorization from their insurance companies for their procedures.
“We work together and care for each other like family,” says co-worker and friend Libby Lovingood. It is very hard to put into words what she has meant to both TOC and to me.”
Shirley and her husband Steven have a daughter, Heather, and two grandsons, who are the light of their lives. She enjoys watching them play hockey and attends their various school activities. Shirley cooks, is active in her church and assists the elderly and shut-ins by helping to balance their checkbooks and paying their bills.
Libby shares a very poignant moment where a less fortunate person commented on how much she liked Shirley’s purse. The next thing you know, Shirley has left the purse for that person with a note that she should take it as a gift.
A heart of gold. A deep compassion for others. We are proud to call Shirley our colleague and our friend. And as long as we have generous, kind-hearted folks like Shirley working with us, we can believe it when she says “It’ll be alright!”
